- Ingredients:
- Doodhi or lauki (bottle gourd) – 800 gm
- Milk – 1 cup
- Green cardamom powder – 3 gm
- Cinnamon – 1-inch stick
- Sugar – 50 gm
- Clarified butter (ghee) – 20 gm
- Dry fruits – 20 gm
LET’S MAKE CHASNI
Step 1: Bring 2 cups of water to boil and add 1 cup of sugar to it.
Step 2: Add a piece of cinnamon to the water.
Step 3: Allow it to boil for 10-15min on medium flame.
METHOD OF PREPARATION
Step 1: First peel off lauki (bottle guard)
Step 2: Grate lauki.
Step 3: Bring the pan to heat and add 2 tablespoons of ghee.
Step 4: Now add grated lauki and keep stirring for 5minutes.
Step 5: Now add half a cup of milk and mix well and again add the rest half of the milk.
Step 6: Add the chasni and cook till the moisture evaporates.
Step 7: Add chopped nuts for garnishing and finally add cinnamon powder.
Lauki ka halwa is ready to serve now.
Tips
- Use fresh and and remove the inner seeds of bottle guard.
- Saute lauki nicely in Ghee to avoid the raw taste in halwa.
- Use full cream milk. Don’t use skimmed milk
- Taste little lauki before use, if it is bitter in taste don’t use it is poisonous for health.
- Cook only on low flame and keep stirring continiously.
- Use extra ghee if you want
