Momo recipe veg. Momo is a southeast Asian steamed filled dumpling and also very popular in India and the Himalayan regions of South Asia. 

Mostly it serves as a snack and comes in both Veg and Non-Veg. Methods of making momos are different and taste might vary too. 

Well, It’s a famous dish that no one can deny. You will find momo stalls in every state and every street.

Today let us share with you our tandoori momo recipe. And we hope you will love it. 

For Dough:

  • Maida (All purpose flour) (2 cups)
  • Salt (as per taste)

For Stuffings:

  • Stuffing ingredients
  • Cabbage (grated)
  • Onion
  • Capsicum
  • Carrot (grated)
  • Paneer (optional)
  • Ginger paste
  • Pepper and salt

For Tandoori Marination:

  • Hung curd
  • Roasted Besan (Gram Flour)
  • Salt
  • Kasoori Methi (sun-dried fenugreek seeds) (one and half tsp)
  • Black salt
  • Garam Masala (one and a half tsp)
  • Chaat Masala
  • Kashmiri Red Mirch powder
  • Lemon Juice (1 tbsp)
  • Red Food Color (optional)
  • Ginger Garlic Paste (1 tsp)
  • Mustard oil (3 tsp) for tempering

Recipe for dough:

  • Step 1: Take Maida in a bowl and add salt in it.
  • Step 2: Add water as required and knead till it becomes semi-stiff dough.
  • Step 3: Then cover it and give rest for 15 min.

Recipe for Stuffing:

  • Step 1: Take a bowl again to add grated cabbage, carrot, and onion. (you can also grind the cabbage if you want)
  • Step 2: Using muslin cloth press or squeeze the  veggies a little to remove excess moisture.
  • Step 3: Now take out the vegetables and add some chopped ginger, then salt and pepper mix well.
  • Step 4: In a saucepan heat, some oil and add some chopped chilies and all veggies in the pan and saute for 2 min.

Momo recipe: (Without steam)

  • Step 1: Roll out the dough ( medium thin) one by one.
  • Step 2: Place spoonful filling in the center.
  • Step 3: Next, pinch from one side and Continue in a circular motion to shape the momos.
  • Step 4: In pan or kadhai add oil then do deep fry momos on medium flame until the outer layer of the momos is light brown.

Recipe for Marination: 

Spices

  • Step 1: In a bowl take a hint curd and add roasted Besan, Salt, Kashmiri red chili, Garam Masala, Chaat Masala, Black Salt (little ), Ginger Garlic Paste, Lemon juice, and Kasoori Methi.
  • Step 2: Mix it well.
  • Step 3: Now add the fried momos to Marinade.
  • Step 4: Mix all momos and cover them with Marination smoothly with hand.
  • Step 5: To give smoky flavor add 3 tsp hot mustard oil and closed it or you can place heat piece of charcoal.

Recipe for Tandoori momo :

  • Step 1: Add 2 tbsp oil to the pan.
  • Step 2: Placed those marinated momos on the pan on a medium-low flame and fry them.
  • Step 3: After a few minutes flip it to the other side and cook all around.

Marination

 

  • Step 1: In a bowl take a hint curd and add roasted Besan, Salt, Kashmiri red chili, Garam Masala, Chaat Masala, Black Salt (little ), Ginger Garlic Paste, Lemon juice, and Kasoori Methi.
  • Step 2: Mix it well.
  • Step 3: Now add the fried momos to Marinade.
  • Step 4: Mix all momos and cover them with Marination smoothly with hand.
  • Step 5: To give smoky flavor add 3 tsp hot mustard oil and closed it or you can place heat piece of charcoal.

Recipe for Tandoori momo :

Note: Momos are already cooked. So do not overcook or else it would burn. Just a shallow fry would be good. 

And when it is done your momos are ready to serve.

For plating, it would be much better when momos are in concentric circles and your hot chutney would be at the center.
